2021 Matthews Columbia Valley Cuvée
"The 2021 Columbia Valley Cuvee sparkles with purple and deep garnet in the glass. Meadow flowers, fresh red berry, black plum, and cocoa powder aromas exhilarate leading to flavors of morello cherry liqueur, cardamom, mountain blackberry, and licorice snaps. This merlot-dominant blend is plush and weighty on the palate with powdery tannins. Dark stone fruits and dusty minerality coat the palate for a long, seamless finish." -Alex Stewart, Winemaker

Previous Praise:
"Deep purple in color, the 2020 Cuvee by Matthews is a killer wine and a great value. Coming in at 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot, the last three components play a bigger role than their composition suggests. Aromas of cherry and oak are present and are followed by an elegant mouthfeel comprised of fine, velvety and settled tannins. Black cherry, blueberry, smokey bramble and mildly bittersweet cocoa all play nicely together in a balanced manner. The softness of the Merlot allows for an elegant and mouth coating finish. This may need a year or two of cellaring to show its best stuff but should smoothly sail for 15 years after that. This wine punches way above its weight, you don’t want to miss it." -94 points, Rob Geresi, International Wine Report
